So will it work on the app? I don’t have their app and don’t really care to have it.
Ryan, I use an Artic Zone Ice Walls with the included ice packs in each wall, and a few re-usable ice packs inside the cooler, and my fish are very cold even after a long day, it weighs a decent amount and takes some space, but it also keeps bait if you use it and lunch cold for me. to keep it from smelling bad I put the fish in a grocery bag inside the cooler. I agree with Brian, typically on stocked lakes anymore I only keep 1 or 2 nice fish that I will eat right away, and if I foul hook a smaller fish it goes into a bag to be smoked.
Brian, Wow I completely forgot that those lakes would have been frozen during the blast, I was around yet during the blast so its easy to forget. Considering that what Jim stated makes a lot more sense.
I think that theory would make sense Jim, however one thing that I get hung up on with that theory are the lakes in the Margaret Backcountry by St Helens. After the eruption none of these lakes were stocked with fish according to my research, and these lakes are in the blast area. Several of the lakes have Brook trout that lived through the eruption and still exist in their respective lakes. Given there are a ton of factors that play into this, obviously fire and volcanic eruptions are very different. Also maybe some species of fish are more hardy to survive something like this than others.
You should have no problem finding fish in any lakes up on Foss lakes from my experience. Some other areas if your looking for lots of lakes close to each other include Mosquito valley by White Pass and Indian Heaven come to mind.
So rather than posting records WDFW would rather go through the effort to email you data on each lake you are interested in? What if you tell them you are interested in every high lake in WA and share the results ?
I imagine some of those beaver ponds running on streams could get pretty small and hold fish. That is pretty cool. Thanks for the post. Could probably almost spit across that larch outlet pond ?

Very interesting in a few years I plan to start mapping some high lakes, but a big reason I want to is so in winter I can snowshoe in and ice fish having depths would be handy… Obviously with my goal I’m not going to go to deep in the woods, but I was looking at a Garmin 43 series with a mount for a float tube from fishfindermounts.com for it then use the same unit for ice fishing.
I actually have that on one of my saved tabs for a possible buy. Do you use a kayak paddle or a canoe one with it?
Well Just got back from the trip had a relatively good time with exception of a few things, it had to be cut short because when we had just arrived i accidentally cut my finger open with a knife, luckily my friend had some supplies and we made our way back down to the ER in Yakima. Got back up and got to enjoy a short time of fishing before i ran out of bandages so we had to bag it early, caught some beautiful cutts though, and lost one that had to be huge… Was trolling a rapala around the lake and hooked him, ran TONS of line and drug me around the lake for a while… was finally getting him in and he ran to me… I was reeling fast trying to keep up then he 180’d and broke the line. Most deffinately biggest trout i ever had on… But the country was beautiful… Things we learned leave the crawdad traps home, they are a pain. That was my mistake along with cutting myself with the knife. My friends things we learned (that i could have told him if id known) Don’t pack any canned food Soda or a case of ammo. lol… Overall a good time though now time to begin thinking of next years vacation 😀
Ok well this helps a lot… and the bugs should not be a problem because i got some 98% deet spray. best to be safe cause i am a little allergic to them… i plan to do lots of exploring and get lots of crawdads as well. ill be sure to post back how it goes
Ok top ten here we Go!
1. A small olive bead head.
2. Kastmaster the holographic trout color
3. RK Spinner
4.if fishing for brookies a small piece of worm
5. A rapala small normally trout colored or pink( good for some big cuts and bows!)Ok great thanks! ill be be bringing the raft and some spinning gear so i should be good for the ability to find the fish. I also have been doing a large quantity of research on what to bring to camp i was going to bring my dads gps, but it is an older more primative model and i am somewhat worried it wont work when i get into all those trees… so maybe i should bring both (gps compass)? One last question does anyone know where i can find good maps that show the trail and everything else? My local fishing hunting store BOBS only has the green maps, and they are hardly better than my dads Washington book that has small pages of all the quadrants that he showed me. Some of the lakes on both these maps actually are untitled while they are named on google maps 😆 .
Again Thanks for all the help
