Thanks for posting that Dave that was a good read. It makes me want to go adventuring with all this oddly nice weather we are having.

I think so it was to the right of where the trail puts you to the lake if I remember. I hiked that way around the lake but it was really steep but I found a downed tree to stand on to fish off of. When I was heading back to the trail to leave I saw the rock and plaque but didnt stop to long to read because the biting flies were eating me alive.

Not sure if any of you watch Shark Tank but this was on there the other day. http://www.orukayak.com/ Not quite sure how well it would work due to it being my first year hiking lakes but I was curious what you all thought.

Man that thing looks nice. I was planning to just fish from shore my first year of alpine lake fishing. But after seeing that I am debating on getting one and also use it in local lower lakes. I have never used one before but it looks to be pretty comfortable other than the thought of climbing down a trail at the end of the day with Jello legs. Thanks for posting that.

Ok I saw that the trailmaster was listed as fly/spinning rod and was wondering if it was a low middle endish fly and spinning rod.

So I ended up at cabelas and bought a shimano sienna 1000 with the rear drag it says it’s 6.9 oz. then for my rod I am still thinking of getting a trailmaster 7’6″ fly-spinning rod. But now I see that cabelas has a fly combo set for $129 with everything needed. Not sure which route I should go. I really like the trailmaster rod due to it having a grip below the reel mount. Let me know what you guys think?

Well I am going to be starting this year so no trips yet but I plan to take my 5 weight 5 piece fly rod and reel and also take a back-up light weight spinning reel (which I still need to investigate and purchase) incase I go to a lake with not much room for back casting flys. I always seem to go overkill on line weight but I am going to try out some 4lb test stuff. I think the lowest weight on any of my gear currently for lakes, rivers, salt is 12lb.

Yea I would be interested in helping out with some plantings if you would have me. I might need about 1-2 weeks of notice because of my wierd work schedule.

thanks for that link that gives me a great list to work off of. Another question I got my first and only fly pole when I was 13 and all I ever really used the thing as was a whip. I never had anyone show me what I should be doing so it turned into just a game of how loud can I get the floating line to crack. So the question, Is a high lake a good one to practice and figure out how to fly fish or should I try this out at a local lake? I like the idea that no one will be watching me thinking what in the world does that guy think he is going to catch fishing like that.

Hey thanks for the fast response. I am so excited about going out in June-July for some fishing. It will be nice to just get away from the crowds and have some quiet.

On the WDFW site it lists many lakes but I have some that I have looked into that aren’t listed. Should I consider these lakes as barren?
