I did a small run in the spring but got side tracked by summer. I’ve been getting back into it recently. Send me a PM with contact info if you want me to let you know when I have rafts available.

I was bummed when the TLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read) version went inactive. Some of the summaries are hilarious.

I’m pretty certain there’s a way to submit surveys through this site that the info will be used to make management decisions for the lakes you visit. The more data the better. If you’re interested you might want to PM Brian, the site moderator.

I’ll echo what Josh said about asking specific questions to get better responses.

Oh, and welcome to the site.

I fished at the ‘pond’ or Little Lake Kulla Kulla and caught nothing and saw no rises.

How cold was the water? If it hasn’t warmed up enough the fish won’t be active and might now show. How long did you fish?

I was recently at a lake that has a history of plenty of fish to catch. I didn’t see any sign of fish in over an hour of fishing around the whole lake. Turns out water temp was 38. A thermometer can be a useful tool.

I remember hearing rumors last year that the bridge was near completion but I don’t ever remember hearing of anyone actually using it. I was up there a couple weeks ago and the barricade was still in place with ample signage prohibiting pedestrian as well as vehicle access.

I called the N Bend Ranger Station and they said the N Fk Rd is accessible. They were very clear that The Sunday Creek Bridge is washed out though.

                    Hey OTF,

Brian’s retired from the raft business, but I’m getting geared up to make/sell a similar boat. At this point I’m just making a list of interested people. PM me with an email address if you’d like to be on the list, or I’ll post here when I have rafts available.

I’m the guy Sandy mentioned that’s working on a Curtis inspired raft. The raft and accessories (paddles + inflation bag) are ready to go. I’m wrapping up a few loose ends on the business side of it then I’ll start selling them to the general public. I don’t have a web site.

                      Weights:
                      raft: 750 grams
                      inflation/storage bag: 70g
                      2 paddles: 130g
                      total: 950g (33.5oz)

Here’s a picture from a test drive. Note: cedar shingle paddles were for testing only.

There’s a scholarship link on the main page (on the left side). It has a link to this PDF with all pertinent info.

As is the case with a closed door in a burning building, it is always best to approach cautiously and touch a warthog with the back of one’s hand.

My assumption is that it’s 2 different groups of people who’re griping over roads being improved/closed. Not the same people switching back and forth.

I use this FS site for road info. It’s in text format, but it’s the link I have handy. I seem to remember a map with similar info being available on the WTA site last year (2008) but don’t have the URL handy.
