The weather this day was great -- we had a clear, blue sky and warm sunshine as we gathered at the trailhead for the hike to Lanham Lake. There at Lanham, we installed the Charles and Emma Lund Memorial Plaque, in dedication to their contributions to conservation. Family present at the dedication were Annnette Lund, Jeanette Lund, and son-in-law Rick Badura. Some warm words were spoken about the Lunds to the group by Bob Pfeifer, President of the Hi-Lakers, and by Virgil Harder.
Notes: Those that knew the Lunds remember their genuine warmth for others. Charlie and Emma were fine people and were well liked by all. We will miss them, but we will not forget them, nor their contributions. Lanham Lake was last [planted by the Lund family on August 22, 1988 -- that was Charlie's and Jeanette's 25th consecutive trip to the lake.
Special note: Pat Barten and Gene Frazier did much of the prep work and installation of the plaque that Pat had had made -- a real work of art. Glen Lee helped with cementing work.
Lunch was had by all, even "Taylor" Bob M’s. dog, which had Gene Frazier’s lunch from inside of Gene’s pack. Some of the group fished with minimal success. At any rate, this day was very enjoyable to be in the mountains with such good company. We shall remember it well.
Those Attending Dedication: Brian Curtis, Mark Boyle, Glen Lee, Ken J. McLeod, Virg Harder, Bob Matthews, Derrick Matthews, Pat & Jenny Barten, Gene & Peggy Frazier, Bob, Jean, and Emily Pfeifer, B.J. Broman, Seth Broman, Bredan Broman, Annette Lund, Jeanette Lund, Rick Badura, and John Baskin.
