“Hi Folks,
Had an interesting trip this summer to the Crazy Mountains of Montana in search of goldens, and thought in ’04 I would head to the Wind River Range in Wyoming. I don’t want anyone’s secret spot, 😀 , but would like any input if you feel so inclined. As I would probably not be going by myself, I need to somewhat limit the off-trail travel. I don’t mind it at all, but my hiking partner would appreciate less off-trail travel after our Montana trip. I will purchase a book about the Wind River Range, but thought I might ask here.

“I've been all up and down the Wind Rivers. Fishing can be incredible. X-country travel is really easy. There can be hundreds of cars at the Elkhart Park Trailhead, but, except for certain popular destinations, the country is large enough to absorb the crowds nicely.
