“Perseid meteor shower has projected optimum viewing TONITE- Sunday night/Monday morning. I don’t have much info; someone on NWHiker said maybe one/minute. I don’t expect it to be near the Leonid extravaganza of the past winter, but wouldn’t want to miss the show.”
“I slept under a clear sky at Obstruction Point near Hurricane Ridge on Sunday night. After the Leonids of this past winter, the Perseids were somewhat disappointing, although I saw more meteors than on a normal night; say 3-4 per 15 minutes of viewing. I missed the aurora borealis which some saw around 11 PM that same night and reported on NW Hiker. Dang, must have dozed off!”
