sign at blazer lake

Hiking the track down towards blazer lake in the alpine lakes there is a board on a tree at the top where it starts to get steep. What did this sign used to say ? Cliff ?

It looks like the trail used to go that way but it appears to have collapsed. I did not follow it much past this point.

What is the best way down, to work around to the rock field on the west end of the lake or does the little strip of trees continue on down to the lake also ?

I don’t remember the sign. The route I’ve taken in there is via the rocks at the west end. You could take the trees, but it is probably brushy.
